Horses are hard to paint, but shiny black horses are especially hard to paint.

I grew up drawing horses, but during my college years, I thought that I had to “grow up” and make more meaningful work, but I never really knew what that meant for myself. Nothing has been more informative to my art-making process than getting back to drawing and painting horses. This is the first one I did after college. I think about horses every single day.
